Upper School Theater Teaches Pre-kindergarten Students

“Collaborating with Natalie Bird and her Lower School theatre students is absolutely one of the highlights of the year for our Upper School theatre students in the Masterclass in Theatre course.”
Upper School theater teacher Marc Raia
The Upper School advanced theater students visited pre-kindergartners in the Red Barn and led them through mini games and activities to enhance their creativity. The older students were wonderful encouragers, helping the younger students step out of their comfort zone. Giggles filled the building as Lotspeich students created farm scenes or became parts of a rocketship.

According to Upper School theater teacher Marc Raia, it’s a great way to foster a cross-divisional community.

“Collaborating with Natalie Bird and her Lower School theatre students is absolutely one of the highlights of the year for our Upper School theatre students in the Masterclass in Theatre course,” Raia said. “It gives the Masterclass students an opportunity to teach the Lower School theatre students and we all benefit from that. The older students are mentoring the younger students, and it allows us to build a bridge from Lower School theatre to Middle School theatre to Upper School theatre. It is a great opportunity to practice and experience the unification process right in the classroom — by encouraging our Upper School students to nurture and guide our younger Seven Hills students.”
