11 Students Named National Merit Finalists
Eleven Upper School seniors were named finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Competition. Congrats to Anna Kunkel, Ahalya Nambiar, Nick Patel, Evelyn Quint, Nicholas Roblyer, Sydney Schneider, Sophia Schuermeyer, Kyle Wang, Brett Woffington, Keliang Yao, and Andrew Zhou. Students qualify for recognition in the National Merit program with their scores on the PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. To be considered for the Merit Scholarship award, the finalists must fulfill several requirements.
The Upper School’s Health Occupational Students of America, or HOSA, chapter had an excellent showing at the state leadership conference in April. Numerous students placed in the top three of their events, earning a spot at the international conference in June.
The team of senior Andrew Zhou and sophomores Jason Zhou, Sakshum Vij, and Clayton Blust placed first in HOSA Bowl. Senior Kyle Wang placed second in biotechnology. The team of sophomores Maya Little and Emma Hassell placed third in CERT and the team of sophomores Ariana Chaudhry and Avery Clayton placed third in EMT. Wang also placed first in the college physics assessment and third in the organic chemistry assessment. Andrew Zhou placed third in the college physics assessment and Jason Zhou placed third in the leadership category.
Ms. Torline honored with Chemistry Award
Upper School science teacher Jen Torline was named the Outstanding High School Chemistry Teacher of the Year for 2025 by the Cincinnati Local Section of the American Chemical Society. She was recognized for her dedication, passion, and inspiring impact on students, who she is helping shape into lifelong learners, informed citizens, and the next generation of scientists.
Five Students Accepted into TAP Health Summer Academy
Five Upper Schoolers were accepted into the 2025 TAP Health Summer Academy, a career exploration program for high school students considering careers in the medical field. Congrats to sophomores Noor Arif, Ariana Chaudhry, and Avery Wang, and juniors Alisha Chaudhary and Luke Samaha.
