Two Students to Compete in Regional Spelling Bee
March 2, 2026
Congratulations to Doherty fifth grader Narayan King and sixth grader Tarini Narayan-Saran for qualifying for the WCPO 9 Regional Spelling Bee — Greater Cincinnati Region 2.
Tarini won the Middle School’s spelling bee after successfully competing against other Middle Schoolers, who scored the highest in their grades. She took part in an online regional qualifier to advance to the regional bee.
Doherty Unit III students take part in the spelling bee every year, starting with the homeroom spelling bees. Ten students advanced to the final and Narayan emerged as the winner.

Narayan then also took part in the online regional qualifier.
“Narayan scored well enough to move onto the next round,” said Unit III teacher Allison Hills. “We are wishing him luck!”
We all wish Narayan and Tarini good luck at the competition!
