Sixth Graders Participate in Book Speed Dating

March 2, 2026

Around Valentines’ Day, sixth graders spent time getting to know different types of non-fiction books during Book Speed Dating in the Middle and Upper School library.

Students have four-minute rotations to sample a wide range of non-fiction titles.

“I like the book speed dating event for sixth graders because it turns choosing a non-fiction book into a fun, memorable experience,” Megan Whitt, Middle and Upper School head librarian said. “The themed decorations and music create a special atmosphere that makes browsing feel exciting and different from an ordinary library visit. By the end, each student has actively explored options and chosen a book that feels like their own ‘perfect match.’”

Whitt said she loves how the activity blends discovery, play, and choice to help students connect with non-fiction in new and interesting ways.
