Second Grade Field Trip to Downtown Cincinnati
November 4, 2025
In mid-October, second graders traveled to the Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati riverfront to observe the architecture, walk across the Purple People Bridge, and enjoy a picnic lunch at Smale Park.

The field trip enhanced the second graders’ ongoing bridges unit by enabling them to sketch the Purple People Bridge, the longest connector of its kind in the country, in real time. Additionally, Lotspeich art teacher Sarah Hyland guided students through their observations of the design to find details that make the bridge unique.
