Lukas Geiger ’17 Visits Upper, Discusses AI
February 2, 2026
As part of the Alumni Speaker Series, the Upper School welcomed back Lukas Geiger ’17, who shared his journey and experiences — from becoming a Seven Hills student to working with AI for Google.
During his speech to current Upper Schoolers in The Schiff Center, Geiger told students to find their niche and do what others aren’t doing, while keeping in mind there is not one path for everyone.
“What might look like a very clear path on a LinkedIn profile, probably wasn’t,” Geiger said. “You have to figure out what the path means for you, and you have to listen to yourself while you do that.”
Geiger earned a B.S. in computer science from Columbia University, where he was also a student athlete on the lightweight rowing team. He completed a co-op as a solution engineer at Salesforce before he began working for Google.

Geiger is now an AI/ML customer engineer for Google Cloud and works with customers to build AI agents using Gemini 3. He shared his knowledge of AI while answering student questions about what AI means for the future and its uses in education.
“There are definitely situations when AI is useful, and there are others when it is not,” Geiger said. “If AI is used as a tool in order to make your output better, versus replacing your critical thinking process, that is a good situation. I don’t think it should ever replace your thoughts or critical thinking skills,” Geiger told the students.
