Eighth Grade Literary Food Truck Festival

For the end of their “Odd One Out” unit in English, eighth grade students designed an original food truck based on the protagonists from their book clubs selections.

During their book club meetings, students read and discussed young adult novels about the challenges of fitting in as a high school student. Some of the books included “The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-time Indian” by Sherman Alexie, “Stargirl” by Jerry Spinelli, and “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time” by Mark Haddon.

At the festival, students visited each others’ food trucks to try their refreshments and learn how their books inspired the cuisine.
