Visiting Author Inspires Seven Hills

Seven Hills students were informed and inspired by their day-long visit with author Aisha Saeed, author of “Written in the Stars” and other works of young author fiction. Saeed, brought to Seven Hills by the Middle and Upper School head librarian Megan Whitt and Middle and Upper Associate Librarian Gail Bloom, spent the day speaking to students in an assembly, signing books, and conducting writing workshops. “Aisha Saeed was the perfect author to bring to Seven Hills,” said Bloom. “We were excited by the fact that she had Middle School and Upper School books to discuss specifically with each division. We were also thrilled to know she was a founding member of We Need Diverse Books, an important nonprofit that is helping children to see themselves and others. Her work is extremely powerful and allows students to see brave characters in a different culture.” Bloom and Whitt said Saeed’s visit exceeded expectations, with her engaging, serious, and funny GIF-based presentations. Whitt said Saeed’s lunch with students gave them a chance to hear from a successful author, while her creative writing session with a small group of seven Upper School students offered the opportunity to receive feedback from a published author.
