Upper School Symphonic and Contemporary Instrumental Ensembles

The Schiff Center was filled with the sounds of violins, cellos, flutes and much more in early December during the Upper School’s Symphonic and Contemporary Ensembles concert. The Symphonic Ensemble played five arrangements, including “Explorations,” “Sea Songs,” a rock medley with hits “Final Countdown” and “Jump,” and “All I want for Christmas is You.” The group was joined by Upper School science teacher Lenore Horner on clarinet. Senior Adam Chen concluded the ensembles performance with a piano solo, which he arranged himself, of “A Charlie Brown Christmas Medley.” The Contemporary Ensemble also played five arrangements, including jazz and soul standards “Caldonia” and “Cold Duck Time,” as well as Stevie Wonder’s classic “Superstition.” The evening was an amazing culmination of a semester of hard work. Congratulations to our student musicians and instrumental teacher John Rising!
