Upper School Students and Faculty Volunteer for Day of Service

Upper School students and faculty participated in a Day of Service on Oct. 25. Students and teachers volunteered around the Cincinnati community, including at Matthew 25: Ministries, John P. Parker Elementary School, local trails, and Crayons to Computers. The day is arranged by Director of Experiential Learning Nick Francis. Francis said more than 400 people volunteered. “We are there to work,” Francis said. Before students went out into the community, Upper Schoolers presented a quilt of valor to Cincinnati police officer Andre Miller, who, in addition to keeping the community safe, directs traffic on the Hillsdale Campus. Anne Ramsay, a former math teacher at Seven Hills, then spoke to students about her experience as a volunteer and how it positively impacts her life. She highlighted three aspects of volunteering—perspective, connections, and hope. “Volunteering makes me feel better about myself and the world,” Ramsay said.
