Upper School Art Teacher Holds Discussion about Notre Dame Blaze

As soon as news came in from Paris that much of Notre Dame Cathedral succumbed to a colossal blaze, Upper School art teacher Jason Knarr felt the need to create a forum for discussion. The day after the blaze Knarr invited Upper School students and faculty in the learning community to join in his regularly scheduled class that he reconfigured to include an impromptu discussion around provenance, and art preservation and ownership. “There are so many things that come into play with the fire, including a discussion around the repairs that were being done when the fire started on the cathedral, and the fact that it already was in need of much repair,” said Knarr. “Notre Dame is a strong symbol of Paris.”
