Unit II Studies Plains Native Americans

Unit II students are participating in a hands-on study of Plains Native Americans in their Global Discoveries class, an innovative learning program that combines science and social studies. Students are transforming a Doherty Campus classroom into a facsimile of a Plains Native American home. Students worked in groups in the Creation Studio to create items used and encountered by the Native Americans on a daily basis, including tools, animals, and clothing. Unit II teacher Sherri Linville said the classes have also been studying the plants and ecosystems of the plains, which provided a foundation for the lessons.
