Students Fly Kites in Chinese Class

Chinese students in Mia Wu’s seventh-grade class and Nanyue Zhu’s Upper School Chinese I class flew kites in early October. Zhu’s class designed the kites and Wu’s students critiqued their work and voted for their favorites. The Middle and Upper Schoolers then flew the kites together. Wu said two Fridays a month, students learn about a new aspect of Chinese culture and the recent lesson focused on kites. She added that Middle and Upper School students had just learned greetings. “The students greeted each other in Chinese as a practice beyond the classroom,” Wu said.
