Student Instrumentalists Selected to Join Prestigious Regional, State Symphonies

Congratulations to the students selected to join several prestigious regional and statewide orchestras! Nine Seven Hills students were selected to join the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra (CSYO)! Eighth-grader Evelyn Gao (violin), freshman Savita Thompson (violin), freshman Erin Finn (viola), sophomores Robby Ligeralde (violin) and Anand Patil (violin), and senior Rajiv Raman (violin) have joined the CSYO Concert Orchestra. Several students also joined the CSYO Philharmonic, including sophomore Kathryn Guo (violin), junior Meg Yuan (cello), and junior Andrew Yang (violin). These talented instrumentalists auditioned for the opportunity and will practice throughout the year. In addition, several students also will play in the Ohio Music Education Association’s (OMEA) Southwest Regional Orchestra, including Yang, Yuan, and Raman. Yang will play in the OMEA All-State Orchestra as well. Upper and Middle instrumental music teacher John Rising said being selected for these top-level orchestras is a “tremendous honor.” “I know that all of the students representing Seven Hills are accomplished string musicians,” Rising said. “Having the chance to rehearse and perform with some of the region and state’s finest musicians is an awesome musical opportunity!”
