Stingers Break MVC Swimming Records, Claim Titles

Congratulations to our swimmers! The boys varsity swim team captured its sixth consecutive Miami Valley Conference (MVC) Championship and the girls varsity swim team won their second consecutive MVC title. Several Seven Hills swimmers broke records as well.

According to the MVC’s website, senior Greg Kalin broke the record in the 100 fly (49.81) and joined sophomore Tim Kalin, senior George Eng, and sophomore de’Leon Bates for a new record in the 200 medley relay (1:39.79) and Tim Kalin, Eng, and junior Spencer Boyd for a new standard in the 400 free relay (3:17.96).

On the girls team, according to the MVC, junior Jocelyn Spanbauer set a new record in the 200 free (1:58.88), senior Emma Shuppert set a new record in the 100 back (56.69), and freshman Ella Piersma broke the record in the 50 free (25.16). Piersma also eclipsed the record in the 100 free while finishing second, and teamed with Spanbauer, Shuppert, and senior Dottie Callard in setting a new record in the 400 free relay (3:46.23).

Shuppert and Greg Kalin were named 2019 MVC Swimmers of the year and coach Brandon Williams was named Coach of the Year.
