Students on the Doherty Campus recently participated in a spelling bee. The first round of the spelling bee was by homeroom. The top four spellers in each homeroom were given an expanded list of words and three weeks to study for the next round — the Unit III bee. Of the 12 students who competed, the final two were fifth-graders Nikhil Kohli and Adam Schaefer. Kohli was the Unit III champion, spelling the word “galleon.” Other words toward the end of the bee included dervishes, percussion, alabaster, and fugitive.
