Sophomore Violinist Leads Initiative to Donate Instruments to Young Musicians

A sophomore with a mind for helping others achieve their musical dreams has started PlayItForward, a nonprofit aimed at collecting new and used musical instruments for children. Robby Ligeralde, a violinist in Seven Hills Symphonic Ensemble, said he has volunteered at MyCincinnati, a free musical program for children in Price Hill, since the spring of 2019. “Due to my love for music, I decided that this would an ideal place for my community service hours,” said Ligeralde. “I thought it best to share my love of music with those less fortunate. During my time there, I sensed a need for more, higher quality instruments, and I took it upon myself to fulfill that need. For that reason, I began the PlayItForward initiative to solicit instruments for the organization. I intend to continue this work until I graduate in 2022.”
