Second- and Third-graders Participate in Remote Learning Book Club
Librarian Lori Suffield is hosting an optional, remote learning book club for second- and third-graders. Students are currently reading “Stella Diaz Has Something to Say,” by Angela Dominguez. Suffield said the book club was planned as an in-person book club for third-graders, which would begin after spring break. “When I found out that we would not be back at school for a while, I made the decision to include second grade as well, and I’m glad I did!” Suffield said. In the first meeting of the book club, students found the book’s protagonist relatable. “We talked about how the main character, Stella, was anxiously awaiting a new student joining her class, and all of the students made connections with experiences they have had welcoming new students to their classrooms at Lotspeich,” Suffield said.
