Puppetry in First Grade
First-Graders in Russell White’s class learned the basic principles of puppetry in mid-January. The students are practicing the art of performing arts, improvisation, and stage direction at a young age during their puppet unit. White himself is an expert and former puppeteer with Madcap Puppets. White said the unit is very helpful for students in a number of ways because the students have to work together to design their short production, pick the characters, improvise, work in an element of humor, and perform for their peers.
