Project Math Introduces Students to Games, Prepares for Arcade Day
Second-graders in Liz Lorenz’s Project Math class were introduced to a variety of games in preparation for Arcade Day. Throughout the semester, students will research and design their own arcade games. “Students spent time sampling some games and completing ‘game review’ sheets in order to identify special characteristics of the games as well as rules, materials, and requirements for the different types of games,” Lorenz said. “Students also reflected upon what they liked about each game.” Second-graders will use this information to begin comparing and contrasting games and determining what makes a game a game.
