Pre-kindergarteners Plant Tower Gardens

Pre-kindergarteners in Kiki Scavo’s class are cultivating their own plants with a tower garden. Students recently prepared the seeds for the tower garden, first planting them in soil. Scavo said students can grow plants in the tower garden all year long. Students learn about sustainability, healthy living, and food production, as well as science and math concepts like observation, predictions, and estimation. “All the credit for the tower garden goes to Adam Markovits, one of our ECC parents,” Scavo said. “We wanted to start this and he’s the plant-pro so he offered his help. This is his second year helping us make our Tower Garden successful. So far we’ve grown lettuce, basil, and strawberries.”
