Practicing Presentational Skills in Unit II
Unit II students in Julie Guminey’s class designed and planned posters all about their interests and families in preparation for their student of the week presentations, which will take place throughout the remainder of the year. Students will have an opportunity to share their posters, bring in special things to share during morning meeting, and will also plan and lead Friday morning meetings during class. As part of the presentation, classmates will have the opportunity to write complimentary messages to each student after each presentation. “This activity gives students a chance to practice presentation skills and provides them leadership opportunities,” said Guminey. “It helps build community in our classroom as the students learn more about each other and recognize ways they appreciate each other.”
