Tuition Assistance Program

We understand the balancing act required of many families when they find the “best fit” school for their child but face the challenge of financing that education. Seven Hills believes that students learn best in a school community of varied economic, cultural and geographic backgrounds.

Seven Hills is committed to providing financial aid to qualified students whose families would otherwise be unable to consider Seven Hills as an option for their children. In fact, approximately one in every four Seven Hills students receives some form of aid. For the 2010/11 school year, financial aid awards ranged from $1,000 to $19,000 with grants totaling almost $3 million for students in Kindergarten through Grade 12.

The Seven Hills School Admission Committee makes “need-blind” admission decisions. Once admission acceptances are determined, but prior to family notification, the Financial Aid Committee meets to allocate resources to those accepted students who have submitted all of the financial aid paperwork and qualify for assistance. The most important aspect of the financial assistance process is meeting the deadlines.

Financial Assistance: Required Information and Instructions

1. Beginning November 8, go to www.sss.nais.org/parents.
2. Click on the prompt to being your Parents' Financial Statement (PFS). You only have to complete one PFS even if you have several children applying to our school.
3. You will be given a password that will allow you to return to your PFS at a later date before submitting it. Enter Code 7270 for The Seven Hills School.
4. If you submit the PFS prior to receiving your 2010 W-2, please use a pay stub from late 2010 to estimate annual income (see NOTE below).
5. The following items are required. Please mail the following documents directly to Seven Hills Financial Aid Department:
• Completed Request for Financial Aid form (download form) - New 2011-12 Financial Aid Applicants Only

• Completed and signed IRS Form 4506-T (download form) - New 2011-12 Financial Aid Applicants Only

• Copy of submitted PFS no later than January 31
• Copy of all 2010 1040's, W-2's and 1099 forms
• SSS Business/Farm Statement if you own a business or farm

6. In the cases of divorce or separation, both parents should submit all required forms. The family's ability to contribute is based on both parents' income and assets.

NOTE: Even if your 2010 tax return cannot be completed by January 31, the PFS must be received by this date to insure preliminary consideration among the first group of awards. Final action will not be taken, however, until the entire application procedure, including receipt of tax forms, has been completed.

Need Analysis

The Seven Hills School Financial Aid Committee relies on information (Parents’ Financial Statement or PFS) supplied by families to our need analysis provider, School and Student Service (SSS). This information, along with copies of tax documents, is used to determine a family’s demonstrated need. Individuals often seek guidelines to determine whether or not to apply for financial aid, but each family’s combination of circumstances is unique. In computing the award amount, we also consider factors such as family size, income, assets, liabilities and spending priorities.

Seven Hills School’s Financial Aid Policy is based on best practices from the NAIS. The policy ensures that each financial aid applicant is considered for assistance using the same standards, policies, and requirements as every other applicant.

Although the financial aid process is independent from the admission process, both applications must be completed simultaneously. Families who request assistance after admission notification will be considered only if there are remaining funds available. To be considered for financial aid you must meet the following deadlines and complete all instructions outlined above.
