Mural Art in the Way of Kandinsky

Doherty art teacher Donna Breitenstein invited students and families to learn about artists and their iconic artforms during Family Art Day in May. During the event, Breitenstein presented different works of famous artists and paired them with art activities. After learning about the characteristics of each artist, families and faculty came together to paint a mural fashioned after Wassily Kandinsky’s Concentric Circles paintings. The mural now hangs outside the art room in Faran Hall. “It was a great physical example of how wonderful collaborative art can be,” said Breitenstein. “Family Art Day allowed us to bring the Doherty community together to experience making art and deepen community connections.”
