Middle Schoolers Compete in Power of the Pen

Seven Hills was among the 15 schools that competed at Power of the Pen at Mariemont Junior High on Saturday, Jan. 26. According to faculty advisor and Middle School English teacher Chris Caldemeyer, the seventh-grade team took home third overall, with Gabrielle Walker placing fourth out of all seventh-grade writers. The eighth-grade team took fourth overall, with Erin Finn placing sixth and Anna Papakirk placing third out of all eighth-grade writers. Students who participated included seventhgraders Tyler Colby, Kailyn Brown, Margaret Tenney, Gabrielle Walker, Nathan Walker, and Eli Cogan; and eighth-graders Anna Papakirk, Savi Thompson, Erin Finn, Ariane Briquet, Ellie Cain, and Brian O’Conner. Head of Middle School Bill Waskowitz and Middle and Upper School head librarian Megan Whitt also attended Power of the Pen, acting as judges.
