Middle School Leads Sustainability Efforts
In April, seventh-graders in Jocelyn Welch’s science class led sustainability efforts on the Hillsdale Campus. They began with a special presentation at Lotspeich, teaching first- through fifth-graders about composting. Sophomore Annika Alper also created a video presentation focused on food waste for Upper School students. These presentations were in preparation for and support of new composting efforts on campus. All food waste composting began in the cafeteria in early April. Seventh-graders also participated in an Earth Day – Fun Day, organized by seventh-graders, and they lead a Black-Out competition among the Middle School Advisories. The two weeks ended with a Sustainability Night at Seven Hills, which promoted environmental awareness and showcased the work of making Seven Hills more sustainable in all divisions.
