Locks for Leonard Hair Fair

The Middle School held its annual Locks for Leonard Hair Fair on Thursday, May 17. The charitable event, founded and named in honor of the late Beth Leonard, who taught Middle School physical education, gives Middle and Upper School students the opportunity to have their hair cut for a good cause. Their ponytails are donated to Locks of Love and Pantene Beautiful Lengths, which make wigs for people with medical hair loss. “We had a wonderful event,” said Theresa Keller, organizer and sixth-grade math teacher. “We had about 30 participants cut their hair during the event and we donated a total of 35 ponytails.” This year, people also donated scarves to Hope Scarves, a Kentucky-based nonprofit that collects scarves and stories of hope for people receiving cancer treatment. Overall, 90 scarves were donated.
