Kindness Retreat

Seven Hills teamed up with Youth Frontiers in late February to host the Kindness Retreat, a special daylong retreat for fifth-graders on the Hillsdale and Doherty campuses. Students participated in this character-building retreat, which inspires them to live out the values of kindness, courage, respect, and leadership in their personal and school lives. In addition to Youth Frontiers leaders, Upper School students worked as leaders during the retreat, participating in activities as well. “The Kindness Retreat is empowering to our fifth-grade students, because they have a say in determining the kind of community they want to form in Middle School,” said Judy Arnold, Lotspeich school counselor and chair of the counseling department. “The Youth Frontiers leaders, along with our Upper School group leaders, guide the Doherty and Lotspeich fifth-graders in imagining a school where people are treated with kindness and respect. They also provide tools to help them create that environment. Beyond that, they are engaged in having fun together.”
