Kindergarteners Participate in Story Listening Lesson
Lotspeich Spanish teacher Megan Hayes shared one more story of the school year with her kindergarten students in late May. Using Story Listening, Hayes told students the story of “El camarón y la almeja” (The Shrimp and the Clam). Story Listening is a technique that ties together images and spoken and written words to teach language. Kindergarteners listened during a Zoom class meeting as Hayes spoke and drew the story of a shrimp trying to make friends with a clam. The story, unfortunately, did not end well for the shrimp. “The shrimp was looking for a friend, but after several failed attempts to talk to the clam, the frustrated shrimp got too close and SNAP—he was trapped inside the clam!” Hayes said.
