Junior Violinist Competes in Germany

Accomplished violinist sophomore Andrew Yang recently competed in the world-renowned Louis Spohr Competition in Weimar, Germany. Yang played in Category III, which includes the 17-20 age group. The competition is split into three rounds, including preliminary, semifinal, and final round. Among the many composers Yang played as part of his competition, were Bach, Paganini, Mazurka, Mozart, and Franz Waxman’s “Carmen Fantasie,” which Yang competed for and earned the opportunity to play during Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra’s annual side-by-side at Music Hall during the 2018-19 school year.
