Instrument Fair

Fourth- and fifth-graders on the Hillsdale Campus tried out a number of instruments at the annual instrument fair. With representatives from music shop Buddy Rogers and Baroque Violin Shop and help from instrumental music teacher John Rising and Lotspeich music teacher Robin Wilson, the students took turns playing sanitized instruments, such as the trumpet, trombone, flute, clarinet, saxophone, as well as violin, viola, and cello. The instrument fair offers students an opportunity to become acquainted with a number of instruments. Many students choose an instrument in fourth and fifth grade and play in the Lotspeich beginning strings and beginning band ensembles, which rehearse twice a week before school. Several students also select an instrument and continue to play it throughout Middle and Upper School in Seven Hills’ symphonic and contemporary ensembles.
