Freshman to Play Carnegie Hall

Freshman musician Jenny Hu will play the guzheng, or Chinese zither, at The Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York City on April 21, 2019. Hu, who will play a beautiful traditional Chinese piece titled, “Spring’s Advent on a Snowy Mountain,” said she enjoys this piece in particular, because of its imagery. “It is majestic and bold and also soft and delicate throughout the song,” said Hu. “It definitely paints a very specific picture in your mind.” Hu, who also plays piano, enjoys creative writing as well. She began playing the guzheng at age 8, after seeing a woman play the instrument during a trip to China. While Carnegie Hall is one of the most prestigious venues soon to be in Hu’s musical portfolio, high-profile performances are not new for her. She has performed at the Terracotta Warriors opening gala at the Cincinnati Art Museum at the Moon Festival, and at the Music and Medicine conference at the Mayerson Jewish Center.
