Freshman Musician to Play Solo with Cincinnati Pops – Feb. 3
Accomplished freshman violinist Andrew Yang will play a solo— a movement of a Mozart violin concerto—with professional musicians during the Cincinnati Pops’ Mozart’s Neighborhood Program at 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 3. Yang’s Cincinnati Pops performance is just one of the stunning musical events taking place in Yang’s day. He is also a semifinalist in the prestigious Cincinnati Arts Association Overture Competition. After auditioning with a five-minute version of the complex and powerful “Tzigane” by Maurice Ravel, Yang has advanced to the semi-final round of the prestigious competition. Yang thanked instrumental music teacher John Rising for helping coordinate logistics for the confluence of amazing events. “I’d like to thank Mr. Rising for helping me figure out and resolve scheduling issues for the upcoming semifinal competition,” said Yang. “I am excited to have the opportunity to compete for a spot in the finals.” Rising encourages the Seven Hills community to attend the concert with Yang.
