Fifth-graders Meet for Lunchtime Book Club

Librarian Lori Suffield invited fifth-graders to take part in a lunchtime book club. Suffield recently met with students to discuss their fall book, “The Bridge Home,” by Padma Venkatraman. The novel tells the story of four homeless children in Chennai, India, who form a familial bond. Suffield said excitement for reading is integral to the culture of Lotspeich Lower School. “I am always impressed with the thoughtfulness and depth of the discussions held during book club meetings,” Suffield said. “Third- and fourth-graders will have the opportunity to join a book club later in the year.” She said the only requirements for students to join the book club are that they enjoy reading and talking about books.
