Eighth-grade Closing Ceremony

Seven Hills recognized the achievements of its rising ninth-graders and sent them to the Upper School with warm words of wisdom during the video Eighth-grade Closing Ceremony held in early June. Head of Middle School Bill Waskowitz opened the ceremony by telling students they are flexible, creative, and well-prepared for the Upper School. “We thank you,” Waskowitz said. “We deeply appreciate you.” Waskowitz then read the names of students for a video processional of the graduating eighth-graders. Head of School Chris Garten shared his remarks. “I want to commend you all for the ways you have risen to the challenges,” Garten said. He told the audience the eighth-graders had a profound impact on the school and were leaders in setting a positive tone in the Middle School. Several eighth-graders shared reflections from their time in Middle School and eighth-grader Olizer Szabo played “Claire de Lune” on the piano. Waskowitz closed the ceremony by telling the rising ninth-graders their class can be defined by three words from Winston Churchill: “Keep buggering on.”
