Eighth-grade Chinese Students Study Transportation in Asian Countries
Mia Wu’s eighth-grade Chinese students partnered up to learn more about how people in Asian cities get around. The project asked students to work together to research two Asian cities, in China or other Asian countries, and their various modes of transportation, and then present their findings to their classmates using correct grammar and Chinese characters. Wu said some students have familial ties to the countries they studied, including Japan and South Korea. In Wu’s classes, she emphasizes the importance of not only language, but also the culture of the countries students study. “I like them to learn about culture,” she said.
