Doherty Closing Program
Doherty’s courtyard was filled with beautiful song, poetry, and warm remarks during the Closing Program in early June. Families and faculty honored students and a purposeful year under cool, sunny morning skies, while students started off with the theme song, “A Million Dreams.” The program continued with a celebratory message from Head of School Chris Garten, and a number of fun song selections sung by each grade, led by Doherty music teacher Maria Eynon. The ceremony ended with fifth-graders singing the traditional, “Another Bridge to Cross,” and all students sang, “Here Comes Summer!” Head of Doherty Tracy Murch encouraged students to enjoy the summer and prepare for Middle School by speaking in person with others, focusing on learning along the way, not always focusing on being the best, and on forging new friendships. During the ceremony, students offered reflections from their grade and year, including Lara Jacobs and Eliana McKee for Unit I, Rebecca Jacobs and Nikhila Puri for Unit II, Colin Froehle from Unit III, and fifth-grade Student Council representative Thibaut Briquet. In addition, Grace Guminey, Amelia Schnirring, Grace Kennedy, Rose Vecellio, and Laikyn Burton recognized retiring Doherty Campus nurse Terry Betts and librarian Linda Wolfe for their 22 and 47 years of service to Seven Hills, respectively.
