Cultural Connections Week

Every year, the Doherty Campus does an in-depth study of a country, focusing on its history, culture, food, and what makes it unique. The yearlong lesson culminates in Cultural Connections Week. This year, students studied Japan and celebrated Cultural Connections week March 11-15. Each grade participated in activities based on Japan. In pre-kindergarten, students took a “flight” to and from Japan. They went through customs, checked their tickets, and even enjoyed an in-flight movie. Fourth-graders in Donna Breitenstein’s class designed a mural for the staircase in Jones Hall. In Unit I, students did a variety of activities, such as creating kimonos and a watercolor painting of Mt. Fuji.
