Congratulations to the Class of 2018!

Seven Hills celebrated the curiosities, humorous anecdotes, and triumphs of our Class of 2018 on Friday, June 8, during the 44th Commencement ceremony. Serenaded by the Northwind Brass Quintet’s Rondeau by Jean Joseph Mouret, our 91 graduates laughed and looked on as the Seven Hills community regaled them with greetings and heartfelt advice. Senior senators Robert Shaffer and Lucy Callard welcomed their classmates to the ceremony, noting the group’s accomplishments in arts, athletics, academics, and community service. Seven Hills of Trustees Chair Jen Stein thanked the community of family, friends, and faculty who shepherded this thoughtful class to this very moment, Head of School Chris Garten applauded the students for their tenacity and strength of purpose, and Head of Upper School Matt Bolton encouraged students to seek identity and purpose. The ceremony also included a special performance of Because I Knew You, from the hit musical Wicked, by Natalie Choo ’18, and poignant, witty messages delivered by keynote speaker and parent Jim Schiff, who offered a series of clever pointers on adulthood and life. Other speakers for the evening included faculty speaker Brian Phelps, parent speaker John Rising, student speaker Kaleb Kemp, and Alumni Council President Ben Glassman ’93, who presented the Alumni Association Award.
