Community Service Club Volunteers at Giving Fields, Holds Recycling Drive

The Community Service Club continued its work by recently volunteering at The Giving Fields, which benefits the Free Store Food Bank. Sixteen students and parents harvested 262 pounds of radishes and 72 pounds of turnips, which will be used in more than 250 meals distributed by The Giving Fields. The Community Service Club is also hosting a year-long recycling drive. “Families are welcome to join our recycling efforts by bringing in empty pill bottles (both prescription and over the counter) to place in the pill bottle recycling box in the Lotspeich office, as well as any old and dried out plastic markers (including highlighters, dry erase markers, and felt tip pens),” said club adviser Liz Lorenz. “So far we have collected and packaged over 40 pounds of markers to be shipped to Crayola for their Color Cycle program.”The pill bottles will be donated to Matthew 25: Ministries to be used to help ship medical supplies to areas affected by a natural disaster or they will be shredded and recycled.
