Circle of Fun

A recent impromptu hand game on the Doherty playground turned out to be a collaborative learning moment and exchange between kindergarteners and their older Unit II peers. Unit II teacher Sherri Linville said her students’ hand games, which are part of her morning activities in class, caught the attention of the kindergarteners during recess. Noticing that the younger students were interested, Linville’s students invited them to join in and taught the younger students many of the hand movements while the students sat in a circle. “This is what I call a happy accident,” said Linville. “Suddenly the group had grown and a good time was had by all! Kindness is an everyday occurrence at Doherty!”
