Building Vocabulary in French I

What would you wear if you were going to the Oscars? Madame Jacky Kalubi asked her French I students to consider their packing list in a number of traveling scenarios, from trips to Hawaii to visits to colder climates. In French, Kalubi asked what students would bring along and they answered in French with words like, “les bijoux” (jewelry), “le sac à main” (purse), and “des chaussures” (shoes), to name a few. Kalubi said the casual questions allowed the students to build their confidence in speaking conversationally in French. She also asked students to study the weather patterns of French-speaking countries over a week’s time. Students will present their findings, in French, in upcoming classes.
