Pre-kindergarten teacher Katie Dawson recently used a vritual classroom discussion about communication to introduce the concept of storytelling to her students. “While talking about mail this week my class used small group Zoom meetings to tell stories to each other using story dice, which are cloth covered cubes with different pictures on all sides,” said Dawson. Dawson said her students virtually rolled the story dice, then took turns telling the next part of the story, based on pictures on the dice. After each roll, the students looked at the pictures and added a new storyline and detail to the story. Dawson said the interactive work was helpful in building and enhancing students’ confidence in their growing language skills.
