Bonnie Binkley Grant Brings Cat in the Hat to Lotspeich

The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati gave a special performance of The Cat in the Hat for Lotspeich students in early March, coinciding with Dr. Seuss’ birthday and Read Across America Day. The show told the classic story of the wily Cat in the Hat, who spends a rainy day wreaking havoc in the home of a pair of siblings, with their pet goldfish serving as the voice of reason. The performance was supported through the Bonnie Binkley Grant, a memorial fund that was established by Lotspeich faculty who sought to dedicate an annual assembly in Binkley’s name. The fund has supported a yearly program that all the children of Lotspeich can enjoy. Binkley was a beloved French teacher at Lotspeich for many years who loved creating interesting and fun activities that taught not only the language but the culture of France, as well.
