The creating vibrant lives school
Upper Fine & Performing Arts Overview
There’s a passion for the arts at Seven Hills that inspires the best sort of discipline. It is deeply satisfying to get something right—to shape that impossibly graceful sculpture, bring a complex character to life, or compose that just-right edgy piece of fusion music—that students don’t mind how hard they work to get there. It’s the passion they feel, more than the effort.
Our teachers, all gifted artists in their own right, inspire their students to discover their own unique potential. Rather than teaching students artistic skills in isolation, the faculty seeks to cultivate students’ creativity. In the course of sustained projects, students develop, under the watchful eyes of their mentors, the skills and confidence necessary to realize their own personal vision.
Consequently, our students draw on our strong arts faculty and our broad array of courses in both the fine and performing arts to fuel their own artistic expression. Our teachers marvel at our students’ eagerness and independence and our community gathers regularly to celebrate and enjoy a broad range of artistic achievements.
And whether our students are firing pots, building theater sets, filling a sketchbook, composing music, or working with green screening, they are developing a cultural and aesthetic fluency that enriches their vision of the world and enhances their understanding of themselves. They go forward into their future enriched by the artistic sensibilities gained from their Seven Hills experience.
